Amy Balkin, California College of the Arts

Amy Balkin is a San Francisco based artist whose work involves land and the geopolitical relationships that frame it. Her projects frequently address legal borders and systems, environmental justice, and the allocation of common-pool resources. Her solo and collaborative projects include A People’s Archive of Sinking and Melting, 2011–ongoing (sinkingandmelting.tumblr.com), atmospheric park Public Smog, 2004–ongoing (publicsmog.org), and Invisible-5, 2006 (invisible5.org), an environmental justice audio tour of the I-5 corridor between San Francisco and Los Angeles. She co-teaches the Social Practice Workshop at CCA.
